Understanding the practice
What is advanced adult medicine?
Advanced adult medicine is a comprehensive approach to the metabolic, hormonal, nutritional, and physical changes that can affect how adults feel and function over time. THRYV Medical evaluates symptoms alongside laboratory findings, body composition, health history, medications, lifestyle, and personal goals. Learn about the THRYV approach.
How is THRYV Medical different from a traditional medical practice?
THRYV Medical focuses on understanding changes that may develop before they become an obvious disease or major limitation. We begin with an assessment rather than a predetermined treatment, then use objective measurements to develop an individualized plan and track progress over time.
Who does THRYV Medical treat?
THRYV Medical provides care for adult women and men experiencing changes in metabolism, body composition, hormonal health, energy, sexual health, muscle health, recovery, or physical function. The appropriate evaluation and treatment depend on each person’s medical history, symptoms, examination, laboratory findings, and goals.
Do I need a diagnosed medical condition to become a patient?
No. Many patients request an evaluation because they have noticed meaningful changes even though routine testing has not identified a specific disease. An evaluation does not guarantee that treatment will be recommended.
Is THRYV Medical a replacement for my primary care provider?
THRYV Medical provides focused adult medicine and may complement care from a primary care physician or specialist. Patients should continue receiving appropriate preventive care, screenings, immunizations, and acute care. THRYV Medical is not an emergency or urgent care practice. Call 911 for a medical emergency.
What is the THRYV Adult Baseline?
The THRYV Adult Baseline is a comprehensive assessment that may include a detailed history, advanced laboratory testing, medication and supplement review, body composition measurement, personal goals, and a clinical evaluation. It establishes a clearer starting point for care.
Why does THRYV Medical order more than routine laboratory testing?
Routine testing is valuable, but it may not answer every question about how you feel or function. When clinically appropriate, THRYV may evaluate metabolic, cardiovascular, hormonal, thyroid, nutritional, inflammatory, blood, kidney, and liver markers, then interpret them in the context of the whole person.
What laboratory tests may be included?
Testing may include glucose, insulin, hemoglobin A1c, cholesterol and apolipoproteins, blood counts, liver and kidney function, thyroid markers, sex hormones, vitamin D, vitamin B12, folate, ferritin, magnesium, and additional tests selected for your clinical needs. Not every patient requires every test.
What happens after my assessment?
Your clinician reviews the findings with you and explains them in the context of your overall health. If care is appropriate, the plan may include medical therapy, medication management, nutritional guidance, health coaching, supplementation, lifestyle strategies, or additional monitoring.
How often will my progress be measured?
The follow-up schedule depends on your treatment plan, medications, clinical needs, and goals. Some therapies require closer monitoring at the beginning. Your clinician will explain the recommended schedule before treatment begins.
Does THRYV Medical offer medical weight management?
Yes. THRYV offers medically guided weight management for eligible patients in Sugar Hill and Woodstock. The approach may include metabolic assessment, body composition monitoring, prescription medication, coaching, nutritional guidance, and other clinically appropriate strategies.
Does THRYV Medical prescribe GLP-1 medications?
GLP-1 and related medications may be considered for medically eligible patients. A clinician reviews your history, medications, laboratory findings, risks, previous efforts, and goals before determining whether medication is appropriate. A prescription is not guaranteed.
How does THRYV Medical help protect muscle during weight loss?
Our approach considers body composition and lean mass in addition to scale weight. Care may include body composition monitoring, protein guidance, medical evaluation of hormonal or nutritional contributors, recovery support, and activity recommendations within our clinical scope.
Do you provide nutrition coaching?
THRYV may provide general nutritional guidance and health coaching as part of a medical plan. We help patients understand how nutrition can affect metabolic health, medication response, body composition, energy, and long-term progress. We do not replace a registered dietitian when specialized nutrition care is needed.
Does THRYV Medical provide hormone evaluations for women?
Yes. We evaluate women experiencing symptoms that may be associated with perimenopause, menopause, thyroid changes, or other hormonal concerns. Treatment is individualized and may include hormonal or nonhormonal options when clinically appropriate.
Does THRYV Medical provide testosterone evaluations for men?
Yes. We evaluate men with symptoms that may be associated with testosterone or other hormonal changes. Testosterone therapy is considered only when the medical evaluation and clinical findings support its use.
Do you offer bioidentical hormone replacement therapy?
Yes. Bioidentical hormone replacement may be an option for eligible patients. Treatment requires an appropriate evaluation, discussion of potential benefits and risks, and ongoing monitoring. The medication, dose, and delivery method are selected by the prescribing clinician.
Can hormone treatment help with fatigue or weight gain?
Hormonal changes can contribute to fatigue and body composition changes, but they are not the only possible causes. THRYV evaluates hormonal findings alongside metabolic health, nutritional markers, medications, sleep, history, and other potential contributors before recommending treatment.
What does muscle and functional health care include?
It evaluates medical factors that can affect strength, recovery, lean mass, bone health, energy, and physical capacity. This may include body composition trends, hormonal and thyroid health, nutritional deficiencies, anemia, metabolic health, medications, inflammation, sleep, and recovery.
Can THRYV Medical help if I feel weaker or recover more slowly than I used to?
Yes. A medical evaluation may identify factors contributing to changes in muscle mass, strength, energy, or recovery. The first step is determining whether hormonal, nutritional, metabolic, medication-related, or other health factors are relevant to you.
Does this replace a personal trainer, physical therapist, or dietitian?
No. THRYV addresses factors within our medical and health-coaching scope. We may recommend working with a qualified physical therapist, registered dietitian, or certified fitness professional when specialized rehabilitation, nutrition therapy, or exercise programming is needed.
Does THRYV Medical offer iron infusions?
Yes. THRYV offers medically supervised iron infusion services for appropriate patients. Iron infusion is considered after clinical evaluation and testing indicate that intravenous iron may be suitable. Learn more about iron infusions.
Who may be eligible for an iron infusion?
Iron infusion may be considered for documented iron deficiency when oral iron has not been effective, has not been tolerated, or is not considered adequate by the treating clinician. Eligibility depends on test results, symptoms, medical history, the likely cause of deficiency, previous treatment, and potential risks.
Do you offer other IV therapies?
Yes. THRYV offers selected IV and injectable therapies based on clinical need and patient goals. Options and eligibility may vary. IV therapy does not replace appropriate nutrition, sleep, preventive care, or treatment for an underlying medical condition.
What aesthetic treatments does THRYV Medical offer?
Services may include Botox, PRP, microneedling, skin rejuvenation, hair restoration, advanced laser and radiofrequency treatments, skin tightening, body contouring, and noninvasive lipolysis. A consultation determines which treatment, if any, is appropriate.
Which aesthetic treatments are available at each location?
Botox, PRP, and microneedling are available in Sugar Hill and Woodstock. Advanced laser and radiofrequency services are available at Sugar Hill. Please confirm the specific service and location when scheduling.
How do aesthetic treatments fit within advanced adult medicine?
Changes in skin, hair, tissue quality, and body composition can occur alongside hormonal, metabolic, and age-related changes. THRYV approaches aesthetics with medical screening, realistic expectations, and an emphasis on natural-looking results.
Do I need a referral to become a patient?
A referral is not generally required to request an assessment or consultation. Some services require a medical evaluation, laboratory testing, or supporting medical records before treatment can be recommended.
Does THRYV Medical accept health insurance?
THRYV Medical is a cash-pay practice and does not bill health insurance. Fees are discussed before services are provided. Laboratory testing, medications, supplements, procedures, or outside services may have separate costs.
Can I use HSA or FSA funds?
Some medically necessary services may be eligible for payment with HSA or FSA funds. Eligibility is determined by your plan and applicable tax rules. Contact your plan administrator because THRYV cannot guarantee eligibility or reimbursement.
How much does care cost?
Pricing depends on the assessment, program, testing, medication, procedure, and follow-up involved. THRYV explains relevant fees before care begins. Some services are offered individually, while others have package or program pricing.
